Undergrad looking for job while in school

I’m currently a civil engineering undergraduate student looking for a part time job while taking classes. Specifically i would like to work for a construction firm or gc. The problem is that I am looking for a job that will not be too heavy on the hours. Mainly I am looking for a job just to get my foot in the door and learn as much as possible. Do gc or construction firms look for students to hire during the school term? What would be the best way to contact future employers about my situation and hours available? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Note: I have two summers worth of experience working labor jobs, nothing major but the field is definitely of interest to me.
